BEHIND THE NEEDLE: THE STORY OF CLOTCH TAPESTRY EMBROIDERY

A deep dive into the patience, high-density thread work, and artistry that goes into our embroidered shirts collection.

There is a massive difference between a pattern that is quickly stamped onto a piece of cheap fabric and art that is permanently built into the cloth itself. When we conceptualized our CLOTCH TAPESTRY collection, our goal was to revive the appreciation for heavy, tactile texture in modern menswear and casual wear.

Embroidery on lightweight shirts is notoriously difficult to get right. If the fabric is too weak or the tension on the machinery is off by a fraction of a millimeter, the cloth puckers, pulls, and ruins the drape of the shirt.

To prevent this, we specifically chose 100% ORGANIC COTTON with natural dyes, the fabric feels light, soft on your body, textured, and we chose light colors because it absorbs less heat and provides better breathability. Our Tapestry collection utilizes incredibly high-density thread work executed on reinforced, premium cotton backings. We spent weeks calibrating the stitch density so that the embroidery feels substantial, raised, and highly detailed to the touch, without making the shirt stiff or uncomfortable to wear.

When you run your fingers over a CLOTCH TAPESTRY piece, you can feel the physical weight of the design. These aren’t shirts made to fade into the background. They are conversation starters, designed for individuals who look closely at the details and appreciate the patience it takes to build a garment properly.
